IMII Rockstar Scholarship
The IMII Rockstar Scholarship is a meaningful opportunity for students in Saskatchewan who are preparing to become future leaders in the province’s mining and minerals sector.
This scholarship supports individuals who are committed to building a career in a high-demand field and who demonstrate the drive to succeed. It’s designed to help students rise, grow, and contribute to one of Saskatchewan’s most vital industries.
Each scholarship is valued at $7,500, and three will be awarded in 2025 to support outstanding students as they pursue their education and career goals in mining and minerals.
We welcome applications from students across the province, with a particular focus on supporting those from non-traditional and underrepresented groups, including:
- Women pursuing careers in mining and minerals
- Indigenous learners bringing valuable perspectives and knowledge
- New Canadians who are building their futures in Saskatchewan
To be eligible, applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program that leads to a career in Saskatchewan’s mining and minerals sector.
Three Ways to Rock
To ensure broad accessibility and meaningful support across Saskatchewan’s diverse education and training landscape, IMII scholarships will be awarded in three categories:
Certificate Programs
For students enrolled in short-term or entry-level programs focused on developing technical skills and trades. This includes pre-employment certificates and apprenticeship-related training.
- Typical length: 1 year or less.
- Eligible institutions: Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT), Regional Colleges.
- Examples: Industrial Mechanics Certificate, Welding Certificate, Applied Certificates in Trades or Technical Fields.
Diploma Programs
For students pursuing two-year technical or applied training that prepares them for in-demand careers in Saskatchewan’s minerals and related industries.
- Typical length: 2 years.
- Eligible institutions: Saskatchewan Polytechnic, SIIT, Regional Colleges.
- Examples: Mining Engineering Technology Diploma, Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology.
Degree Programs
For undergraduate or graduate students advancing their education through university-level study and research in fields relevant to Saskatchewan’s mining and minerals sector.
- Typical length: 3–4 years (undergraduate) or additional years (graduate programs).
- Eligible institutions: Universities of Saskatchewan and Regina.
- Examples: Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Business.
The scholarship is open to students enrolled in disciplines at IMII member post-secondary institutions, including:

How to Apply
To apply for the scholarship, you will need to complete an application form and submit a personal statement on your interests and the impact this scholarship would have on helping you to reach your career goals. You must also include a copy of your acceptance letter (or proof of current enrollment) and an official transcript of your most recent academic program. Enrollment must be maintained throughout the academic year.
The application form will consist of three sections:
- Personal information
- Academic information
- Personal statement
Demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in Saskatchewan’s minerals industry will be considered in the selection process, including consideration of completed co-op placements, internships, or other relevant work experience within the sector.
The deadline to apply is November 3, 2025. Scholarship winners will receive notification in early December.
